Date 21/12/2001 A group of children of the Athens Baptist Church. What are they doing? They sing to the Lord! We can't hear the singing, but we can enjoy the picture! It is true that children, flowers and birds, make life beautiful. And our Lord Jesus spoke of all three of them, and called the attention of His audience on them in a number of occasions in the New Testament. He taught using them as illustrations. But, leaving flowers and birds, we come to children. To refer to what God's Word says about them here it's impossible. But a word to parents and the church we deem necessary and profitable. The Word of God exhorts Christian parents to "bring their children up in the nurture and admonition of the Lord." The church should play its part, too, in embracing them with affection and love. And all adult believers must pray earnestly so that all the children of the house of God, as they grow up, will profess Christ as their personal Savior and serve Him in any capacity, to His praise and glory. And, parents, let us not forget, our children are the only ones of all we have down here that we can take with us in heaven!
