The photo is some decades old. It shows another baptism in the Aegean Sea. It was a beautiful summer morning. The ordinance has just ended. Five of the group, upon professing Christ as their personal Savior, were scripturally baptized. That is, by immersion and under the authority of the local church, in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost, according to the Great Commission, Matt. 28:19. Markos Boussios was the agent. Some of those in the photo have gone home to be with the Lord. The rest of us, some young people about thirty then, have now come almost all the way up the ladder, and the children are fathers and mothers. Seeing our faces here we can't help being touched with nostalgia. But glory be to God for His unspeakable gift of eternal life through Jesus our Lord. Thinking of heaven makes us long to go there, where it is far better, and also to see this life, as it really is, a sojourn through the wilderness, with quite a few oases, thank God, like the one of that occasion. With thankful hearts and radiant faces we praised the Lord for what had just taken place. To God be the glory.
